Our son and his fiancee were “Maui’d” two weeks ago!!! After much thought they had decided on a small wedding in Maui with family and friends.
It was the perfect setting for what was truly a “magical” evening. Just a glimpse of the evening below…
The site for the ceremony…

The reception was held on the moonlit lanai…

This is just a taste of the beautiful evening filled with so much warmth, love, and joy…. photographer’s photos yet to come !
But since this is a food blog I will share with you the rehearsal dinner which was held at The Monkeypod Kitchen the evening before.

Having agonized for a couple months as to where to hold the vision I had of a casual, fun and lively event I chose Chef Peter Merriman’s Monkeypod Kitchen which proved to be the perfect choice!
The very talented Chef Merriman is well known for bringing Hawaiian regional cuisine to the area. You can read about him here.
The food, drink, service, and ambiance exceeded our expectations and validated all the 5 star reviews we had read.
Known for their handcrafted culinary cocktails and craft beers many of us began the evening with their signature Mai-Tai, known as the best Mai-Tai on Maui!

Monkeypod Mai Tai (old lahaina silver rum, old lahaina dark rum, lime, house-made macadamia nut orgeat, orange curaçao, honey-lilikoi foam)
Here are several items from our menu for the evening which was served family style…

The Wood Roasted Chicken Wings (kiawe-roasted free range chicken, garlic, kula farm rosemary, tzatziki sauce)

Garlic Truffle Oil Fries (parmesan cheese, whole grain mustard aioli, monkeypod ketchup)

Fresh Island Herbs Farm Organic Kale Salad (maui onion, golden raisins, mandarin oranges, organic waihe’e macadamia nuts, miso sesame vinaigrette)

Big Island Grass Fed Ribeye Steak (with house-made chimichurri sauce)

And for dessert a selection of Hand Crafted Cream Pies…strawberry, chocolate, banana, coconut, which I will just say was icing on the cake, or whipped cream on the pie!!!
