(the first year of my Dinner at Sheila’s blog) Frying and draining the latkes for Hanukkah in Maryland

More latkes in Maryland…getting fancy with the dreidels! And my favorite homemade applesauce! If you want it pink the secret is cooking really red ones with the skin on.

Dinner for two in Maryland for first night of Hanukkah with brisket…yum. Find two great brisket recipes here...one sweet, one savory.

Moved into our home in San Luis Obispo, California and our kids came to help us unpack…served latkes with breakfast the next morning. No pic…too tired.
Family came to visit …cousins from Sunnyvale, niece and friend from NY, and sister from PA…were here for dinner the last night of Hanukkah! We had steak that night, not brisket. Don’t worry, it’s allowed! (hee, hee)

First night just hubby and me. I have to say, latkes look a bit well done, but crispy!

Hanukkah party with our neighbors for latkes and more…latkes with toppings including pomegranate seeds, creme fraiche, caviar, smoked salmon, capers, and of course, applesauce. Taken just before I filled the platter with latkes…

All that was left…took this pic the morning after…too busy at the party. See complete party menu here.

Rachel Ray had Chef Gail Simmons on her show and I watched from my bed while recuperating from a broken wrist! No cooking for me that Hanukkah! Check out her great videos for latkes and Reuben sandwich latkes here.

Hanukkah dinner for four with friends…Find the brisket recipe here.

Dinner at our son and daughter-in-law ‘s home in LA for first night of Hanukkah…Have latkes will travel! Reheated frozen…perfect!
