misSince it was our aunt’s birthday the day before, we wanted to celebrate it at our brunch. I put together a little impromptu birthday cake with some sweet little mini-cupcakes purchased at Whole Foods Market. I decorated each with a plump raspberry and tiered them on a cake stand. Store bought cake is usually something I don’t do, but I have to say this worked, and prevented a good deal of chaos in the kitchen had I insisted on making a cake the morning of the brunch. Hey, I’m nothing if not flexible…now don’t ask my husband about that! Moral of the story…sometimes it’s not the ingredients that matter, but the love that goes into it…our aunt loved her cake!
