A new French bakery, Joliene, has opened up downtown recently, and when my husband went out to get the New York Tmes, as he does every Sunday morning, he stopped by to check it out.
He immediately called to give me the play by play of the pastry and bread lineup, which I so appreciated.
After a bit of discussion, we decided to forego the croissants, and other pastry till the next time in favor of a round sour dough and a lovely large baguette!
Once he was home I knew immediately what to do with that beautiful baguette.
I would make baguette sandwiches with the prosciutto in my freezer, the red ripe tomatoes from the Saturday farmers market, and the fresh basil sitting in my kitchen window.
This particular baguette brought back memories of our trip to Paris last September where we looked with awe in the cases of the many shops selling a vast array of prepared baguette sandwiches.
We joined the throngs of Parisians walking down the street while busily going on their way, but all the while munching on their baguette sandwich. So delicious!
We enjoyed our sandwiches (mustard for monsieur, and a schmear of Boursin herb spread for moi) on the deck with a side of fresh fruit and a small glass of Prosecco.
Un dejeuner parfait le dimanche!
A perfect Sunday lunch!
