Every summer the village I live in has a Most Beautiful Garden Contest. The winners were just announced in our local community newspaper, and I’m thrilled to say I’ve won first place this year.
I am as passionate about gardening as I am about food. Both have allowed me to demonstrate my creativity, expand my knowledge, and bask in the satisfaction of knowing I have brought a little joy into someone’s world, be it through a beautiful flower or a delicious meal. Both cooking and gardening have provided great comfort and solace to me when life unleashes its harsh blows. We should never forget to stop and smell the roses…or the soup, whichever you choose.
