I have always wanted to go to Paris. My husband made that dream come true just about a month ago! We spent 10 fabulous days there in the Saint-Germain-des-Pres area.
He surprised me a couple of months before our actual trip by saying one morning, “We are going to Paris!!! “
What could I say, but...Mais Oui!
We were celebrating our 48th anniversary, my upcoming milestone birthday this November, and anything else we could think of, and I must say it lived up to the hype! We fell in love with the “city of lights”! Here are
someokay, lots of highlights from our trip. Our base was a charming boutique hotel located on a bustling Parisian street. From there we set out on our daily adventures..

The view from our room each morning as the city awakens below…

Our adventures included walking the streets of Paris…

Couldn’t resist this one of three waiters on a break with their cell phones…

and a street musician in Montmartre…

on our way to see the Sacre-Coeur…

We lingered at the beautiful gardens, from the Tuleries…

to the Jardin du Luxembourg..

to a visit to Monet’s home and gardens in Giverny…

And his kitchen!

Then there’s the food, oh my, the food! The many delightful cafes where you can sit and watch the world go by…

The countless amazing food shops, the cases filled with baguette sandwiches, quiches, tarts, brioche , pastries, croissants, charcuterie, cheese and much more…

and even a gelato shop where they serve it in the shape of a flower…

And the incredible outdoor markets…

We discovered a neighborhood art fair one Sunday…

The many museums…
A visit to the Musee d’Orsay…

A guided tour at the Shoah Memorial Museum in the Marais neighborhood…

and a walk through the revitalized “old Jewish neighborhood “…

A stop at Boucherie David…

where David made us a pastrami sandwich from the pastrami he cured and the rolls he baked…soooo good!

On yet another day this is a view from the bridge we were walking across on our way to the Musee de l’Orangerie…

to see Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies”…

Then lunch at the lovely Le Souffle restaurant…

A cheese souffle for me, beef bourguignon souffle for monsieur…

And a raspberry souffle with chocolate sauce to share…

While we’re talking restaurants there was the incredible shellfish platter at the beautiful Le Dome…

and yet we still made room for the plum tart …

One evening we had dinner at the 58 Tour Eiffel … food as art!

Near the end of our stay we took an evening cruise on the River Seine which was spectacular, and such fun!

I could go on, but I promise I won’t! I hope you endured enjoyed this mini travelogue I wanted to share with you.
Au revoir Paris!
And before you know it we’ll be talking THANKSGIVING!
